OralEssence was born out of one father's love and determination. When our founder, Jeff, saw how difficult daily toothbrushing was for his autistic son due to sensory sensitivities, he knew there had to be a better way. Traditional brushing caused stress and discomfort, but healthy teeth are essential for confidence, comfort, and overall well-being.

That moment sparked a question: what if you could clean your teeth without a toothbrush, toothpaste, or water? Jeff partnered with his father, Dr. Robert H. Dakin, DDS, a practicing dentist with over 30 years of experience, to find the answer. Together, they spent 12 years developing what would become OralEssence: an all-natural, effervescent teeth cleaning tablet that works anytime, anywhere.

The Dentist Behind the Tablet

Dr. Robert H. Dakin is a practicing dentist, scientist, and global humanitarian. As President of the Kansas Dental Association and an American Dental Association honoree, Dr. Dakin has dedicated his career to advancing oral care for everyone, everywhere.

That mission took him to remote villages in Africa, Albania, and Turkey, where water is scarce and traditional oral care isn't an option. It was there, working with children who had no access to a toothbrush or clean water, that the core promise of OralEssence was validated: effective oral care, without water, anywhere in the world.

Dr. Dakin's formula took over 12 years to develop. Every ingredient was selected for a reason. The result is an all-natural, effervescent tablet that cleans teeth, freshens breath, and requires nothing but your saliva.

Jeffrey M. Dakin and Justin L. Rietema each built their own products and took them to the Shark Tank stage. Jeff, a serial entrepreneur and CEO, was featured on ABC's Shark Tank for The Scrubbie. Justin, an engineer with a Master's in Business, was featured for his product Human Bobber.

When they came together with Jeff's father, Dr. Dakin, they saw an opportunity to create something that didn't exist yet: an all-natural way to clean your teeth on the go. No toothbrush. No water. No mess. Just a tablet that works.
